After a recent flight on another airline, I'm afraid that airlines will start (if not already) becoming overly strict about carry-on and insist on checking bags in even if only a 1/2 inch too big or if the sides bulge a little then charging for gate check in.

Does United (or America or Delta or ...) use this sneaky strategy?
