In my seventh year as a KVS user I am dismayed to read so many recent negative postings here about something that, for me, has long been a reliable and very useful tool.
What I’ve seen in that time is access methods come and go and lots of new features added while the price remained unchanged. There was always discussion about where the data came from and comments to the effect that much of it could be accessed for free if you knew where to look.
I took the view that for the benefits that KVS Tool provided me it was well worth the annual cost – certainly when balanced against the savings in time and money and for the convenience. Availability is the prime function but I also use a whole host of other features such as checking visa requirements, award availability, timetables, fares and flight arrivals.
As soon as the GTC Availability access method was introduced, I took the trouble to find out how to sign up for it and I’ll admit it wasn’t that easy. The problem is that after the (probably totally unexpected) decommissioning of two other search methods in the short space of some two weeks, for the moment suddenly GTC is all that’s left. From what I have seen in the past, KVS will introduce new facilities and methods as soon as they become practical.
Meanwhile those making adverse comments are not helping the situation. I for one will be patient and supportive in the hope / expectation that KVS Tool will continue to provide what I need.
