Since it came up as $400 every time I searched throughout August and September, I assumed it was the normal price. Rookie mistake, I know. Now I know better!

Unfortunately, I'm only looking for a one-way since I'm starting a backpacking trip then, so I'd rather not pay for a round trip fare if I can avoid it!

My "buy now" price is $500 for a one-way, but if I can get it back down to $600 or so for a good flight (the overnight direct that takes ~6 hrs), I'd buy that in a heartbeat, too.

Thank you for the reassurance that it's too early to buy unless the deal is right. I feel more confident sitting back and waiting until another sale comes along. It looks like the sale was on Tango fares, and they seem to have yanked all the Tango fares until the next sale since I'm seeing no Tango availability throughout May for this route. Hopefully between now and next May there will be another sale and they'll put Tango fares back on the market!
Might be worth earning from Aeroplan miles and booking a one way low YQ redemption for 30k miles (Look for TK, LX, UA flights). 30 000 miles can be earned relatively easy with a credit card signup.
