Ayutthaya is well worth a visit, but Angkor Wat it ain't. In a couple hours - you're done. I'd throw in a visit to Bang Pa-In Royal Palace. I kinda liked Ancient City, but it's in the wrong direction. Maybe a good stop on the way to Pattaya.
