Just clicked on my AA app and it pops up a message saying "This version of the app is no longer supported. Please upgrade to the newest version.". Went to the app store and see that the app was last updated on Sep 17 and now requires ios 8!

I'm running ios 7.1.1 and I'm not going to update my iphone 4s to ios 8. (We can argue that point but every technical resource I consult tells me to expect very sluggish performance if I do.)

Why can every other app I use, including Delta's, add ios 8 compatibility and optimization but not make it unusable in ios 7? It's not like iphone 4s does not have a huge installed base.

The app itself still runs fine, of course, but when it tries to communicate with AA's back end it chokes and delivers the "Please upgrade" message. There is no reason AA cannot continue to support the older OS.
