If DL would just enforce their own T-15 rule then this wouldn't be a problem. If you are not at the gate 15 minutes prior to departure then you have given up your seat. And yeah, I don't care if it is Delta's fault you didn't make your connecting. At T-15, release the upgrades and let's go.
