A hawker center is usually an open place (non-airconditioned) built by the Government where a variety of stalls sell food which can be consumed there. A food court is similar except it is usually airconditoned and located in a commercial building. You can sample the same foods of a hawker's center at two food courts very close to the Hilton on Orchard Road.

One is a food court at the basement of Orchard Towers, directly across from the Hilton. Another is a modern food court on the 5th floor of the shopping center adjacent to the Orchard MRT station.

Of course, meals are less expensive at the hawker centers.
