Mysterious daily charges of $100 from Hertz
So I had a rental set for this past Friday, but literally as i got to the station, found out i didnt need it, canceled it on the app and left. Later that evening i re-opened the app to make another reservation for later this week and noticed it was still showing my canceled reservation. Tried to cancel again but, once again, it remained. I called into customer service and explained the situation, the woman said that its 'not a problem as you are past the pickup time anyway'. Ok no big deal. I saw all the charges (holds whatever) hit my amex but know that they will drop off in a few days.
Then yesterday i woke up to a notification from Amex of a charge for $100 from Hertz. I called billing and they said it looked like the reservation was not canceled correctly, but that she had now submitted a release request and the charges would reverse in a few days. Perfect
Or so i thought.
I just got another email from amex (1:02AM) showing ANOTHER $100 charge from Hertz. I called customer service again and the unhelpful woman told me to call back during normal business hours to speak to the billing department. And that there was no way for her to check and see if my reservation showed that i 'still' had the car somehow. All she could do would make a new reservation.
Has this happened to anyone before? Whats going on?
