I'm on the same downfall. Platinum this year, gold next year and silver the year after that, unless my travel patterns change drastically.

I'm very happy with *A and do all my regional flying in Central America and the Caribbean on Copa and Avianca. Copa are extremely generous with complementary upgrades for Mileage Plus status members and I've had the odd upgrade with Avianca as well despite having no LifeMiles membership at all. Something you'd never see on KL/AF, unless Y was overbooked.

My trips back to Europe are on LH, where MP generates full milage on basically all Y tickets, and I get a generous status bonus (75%) for award miles accumulation as well. The sun will rise in west before FB turns that generous.
