I did a FT search and google search before starting this thread. Came up with nothing.

Basically, I am curious as to why AA bought the 773 and put it on JFK to LHR. These flights, at least according to the AA seat mapper, routinely go out very, very empty in coach. Business class goes out fuller but not nearly sold out, same as First Class. So, what is the purpose of spending a ton of money on this aircraft, with a range of nearly 8,000 nautical miles and seating for nearly 365 people when all your daily flights go out nearly empty on this 3450 mile flight?

Now, I can understand the 773 flying a route such as DFW to HKG as that is a very long haul flight, going out nearly full every night.
