An expensive mistake. QR is in full compliance with US law, by offering a 24-hour hold. When a carrier chooses the "hold" option, it need not offer a refund. OP could have had his booking "held" and allowed it to lapse or cancelled it and he would not have suffered a penalty.
Ouch. Just out of curiosity since i'm not familiar with US law on that topic: do they (reseravtion office) need to mention that? Or is it completely up to the client to know about it and ask for the reservation to be held for 24 hours?
