Doubt you would have any need to connect through PVR to elsewhere but you can literally walk from the airport to the beach. Tequila factories are a very short & cheap taxi ride away (less than 15 minutes). The Malecon boardwalk is also nearby to do some sightseeing, dining and shopping.
