Sri Lanka-Madagascar and Antarctica-Venezuela may be tough air hops. I'm sure Iran is rich in history but I'm not so sure I'd wanna go there. For financial reasons I'd likely book a framework of the inter-continental air hops (preferably changeable) and do the overlands as the part without the rigid schedule. RTW tickets will only indulge the Phineas Fogg impulses to a point.
