In my experience, most properties do have email addresses (they send emails) and people who check them (they answer emails).
Their reluctance to disclose them seem to come from HQ.

Not to defend hotels that don't have a public email address, but it would require someone to check and answer the emails. If they don't have anyone designated to do that then even if they had an email address it would probably go unanswered. Is it behind the times? Of course it is. But it is another thing they would have to do.
