Mileage Plus/*A partners in India

Can confirm AI gives out the *A benefits.

Flew them domestically in August. Agent asked "that's all" when she realized we were at or slightly below the regular bag allowance. Got AI priority tags that were marked for F class without *A branding (guessing they were still trying to use those up first). Also got a lounge pass - however, didn't realize it was pre-security at BOM domestic until I had already passed through. After arriving at MAA - bags were, IIRC, the 2nd ones off the belt - was absolutely shocked to see that while priority bags rarely work in North America, they did in India. All this given without asking.

As for 9W, they are only an MP partner, and you get no benefits except RDM earning (on higher fare classes only) and the codeshare flight numbers. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Jet partnership go away completely not too far in the future. For one thing, with EYs investment and changing course for 9W as a result. Also, once the FAA raises India's safety category again, UA will have the ability to begin codesharing with AI. Also, in the longer term, *A has said there may be interest in having another Indian carrier join - would not be surprised in a few years to see the SQ-Tata joint venture carrier be this other partner, assuming they grow successfully. It will take time for that, though.
