I think my previous posts this week illustrate my feelings on this. I too, will not live in a police state where the government exercises excessive control to make people think they are more secure....or do I have it backwards? Perhaps they are using fear as the catalyst to motivate the general population to support, even accept, the government's dubious and dark intentions.
If this were the case, it certainly paints a chilling picture...the Bush administration taking advantage of fear to ram their constitutional bashing proposals through.
When people start to ask too many questions, just raise the alert level and send everyone scurrying to the home depot for more duct tape.
I was hoping that by now, I would have seen a more organized resistance among the population and especially the media...maybe the chilling threats from Washington that "you are either with us or against us", and the challenges to the Patriotism of those who resist Homeland Security.
I have no problem asserting I am more of a Patriot than most in the Bush administration...my respect for the Constitution and our history is where I get my Patriotic strength...not running around crying "help...protect me from Osama!".
How do we send an effective wakeup call to 250 million people who seem to be asleep on these issues?
