I would say that there hasn't been a thread because, for the most part, US-based lounges don't offer that much in the way of food/drink. Obviously there are exceptions, some of which are listed here. But I'd say it's more the norm for them to do light offerings than anything robust & fancy, so for the post part there hasn't been a need for a thread.

I don't normally make a hotel decision based on its lounge offerings, more location & price. Having said that, if there were multiple Marriotts in a certain area and the price was approximately the same between them, then I might throw the lounge offerings into the mix.

I'm not a big breakfast person, so evening offerings are probably more important to me.
