BA009 delayed, missed connection in BKK
I am hoping the FT fountain of knowledge will be able to help with this one! I am currently in AMS, waiting to board a flight to LHR and then onwards to BKK on BA009, and then to Phuket with Bangkok Airways. I have just received a text from BA to say that the BKK flight is delayed by two hours. The lounge agent here in AMS said it is down to a "crew issue". As a result, it looks like I am going to miss my flight to Phuket - there is now only about 50 minutes for the connection and this won't be enough for me to collect my suitcase and check-in.
The Bangkok Airways flight is a completely separate booking. I had left almost three hours in case of delay, but obviously in this case it wasn't enough! In this case - is there any chance BA will help absorb the cost of getting me onto a later flight? In all honesty, it isn't really a huge problem - booking a new flight will only be about £45. I just wanted to know what the official position is before I talk to anyone at customer service when I arrive at LHR.
Many thanks in advance.
