Yeah, I've already experienced this scamcharge when I booked a reward for my nephew earlier this year for an AC YVR-FRA flight. Baaad value indeed, but he desperately needed to save money and this is how I could help out.

Thanks for breaking down the price savings on UA vs. AC. $27 on 4 tickets is still > $100. Plus, if I left from the US, there would be more tax savings. I am never too fussed when I am just booking for myself, but when you start multiplying it by 4...ugh...
