if you read the T&Cs:

16. All bookings made under this promotion will be covered by the fare rules and conditions of the original fare. This includes any applicable refund and change fees.

then what reason is there to suspect that anything changes about these bookings, other than getting a 20% discount on the cash fare?

I would not try to upgrade at the time of purchase though.
