My (no status) friend was told by an AC phone agent to not bother trying to upgrade via my account as a nominee as he'd have to pay $750 on the TPAC portion. Flight was J7 at T-20 so figured he had a shot at it...but she talked him out of it (and I was in flight on AC7 at the time).
