Most ATM's won't let you choose between charging you in KRW or USD, and most don't say which rate they use when they decide to do the conversion themselves.
Get cash in advance, saves alot of headache and usually a bit of money too.
Interesting. That makes sense I suppose but I thought the exchange rates were pretty universal as far as banks are concerned (meaning, given its the same bank the rate won't be different or vary based on location e.g. an airport ATM vs an ATM on the street)
I've actually heard the exchange rate at least here in the US for changing to won isn't very favorable vs just doing it there. I thought that was true for most other currencies too - don't change for that currency here in the US. I dunno, maybe it's different if you're in another country and changing currencies...
