Correct, and it counts to the 2 or 4 BA flights needed for status. Otherwise AA's Avios is slightly lower than the BA metal/code, on that service the differential is worth a tenner if that.

If you haven't gone AA before, and you are CERTAIN to be on a 77W then give it a go, it's a good experience (factor in the risk of equipment change too). Otherwise you may want to consider it to be World Traveller Plus Plus.
