I'm going to drop to UA silver (maybe gold) next year, but at the same time maintain Companion Pass status on Southwest and silver status on Delta.

Just depends on your priorities and travel patterns. 100K status is worth it if you fly international and you can use the GPU's. For me since I mostly fly domestic and seem to not get upgraded nearly as much as I used to, I have made the decision to switch most of my flying to other carriers and not maintain UA 1K. I don't much like the revenue changes either even though I may have come out ahead in previous years under the scheme.

If I had to take 3-4 international trips a year that would probably change.
