Generally, its better to have the highest possible status on the airline you want to fly the most rather than hedging middling lower tier status on more.
If you want 'mild' perks on OAL's, I'd just get their credit cards, you'll usually get the free bag and relative priority.
I think that is the wisest course of action. Having paid close attention to entry level status, but I believe the credit card ownership delivers most of the benefits.
