Note that your status will not be updated until about 2-3 days after your flight posts, which can take 1-3 days or more for a BA flight.
My recent experience was that BA flights posted overnight and status updated over the next night. This is probably as fast as it can be! I went from blue to bronze in one direction and from bronze to silver in the other (owing to a prior lack of segments).
