I found an amazing rate for a Hyatt resort PVR ( opening December) on Expedia for fall of 2015.

I immediately booked it and paid in full ( the rate is refundable) and got from Expedia a confirmation number with the comment " We have confirmed your hotel reservation with the property."

Problem is that when I call Hyatt's central reservation system they have no record of my reservation. Should they? Their response was "to wait until the hotel opens up and call directly to reconfirm." Which seems like an odd answer.

Expedia assures me all is well...but never having booked with them before I am just a bit wary.

Am I not understanding how a 3rd party reservation system like Expedia works? Shouldn't one reservation system see the other and be synced?
