My dad's house is just outside of Santa Monica on the opposite side from LAX. At that hour it takes a little under half an hour from there if you know the quickest route. Taking the most direct route, or the freeway, could extend that to 45 minutes or so, depending on traffic.

Which town are you thinking of visiting on Sunday? There are a lot of choices from LAX.
