After 15+ years of status on UA mostly as a leisure flyer, I am going to take a year off and will lose ALL status with UA. I've decided to forgo taking mileage runs just to get status. I've accumulated a bunch of miles on other carriers through credit cards, and I am going to cash them in.
In the meantime, I have a UA flight to Maui next March (when I will have NO status) and have "bought up" to UA Econ+, just to get into row 22. As a Silver the last few years (and Gold before that for many years) I just don't see the real perk of flying in F domestically. Row 22 suits me just fine.
With the uncertainty of $ per status on UA, it's time to try something else. So I'll get to try a few other airlines out and see what they're all about.
