Was told that my "local hotel profile" indicated that I should only receive points based on my stay.

Frankly I was "bought off" to probe further...

I ought to add,

Virtually all of my Marriott stays are booked via a cash back site (from the UK - Quidco), I suspect that this was/is a major factor...

But hey, I don't set the rules...
