Air Canada could take a lesson from the crew of the BA flight I was on last summer from SOF-LHR.
After we pushed back the pilot informed us that ATC in London delayed our take-off for at least an hour due to weather over the Channel. He explained we needed to push back because an incoming flight needed the gate. Lots of grumbling ensued.
Then something happened that was unimaginable to a long-time AC passenger. While we waited the pilot and the co-pilot at varying times strolled back through the cabin, apologizing for the delay, taking questions, making small talk with the passengers.
They kept us regularly updated, gave us a new departure time which they met and we left about an hour late.
