Additionally, for the question about the lounge at IAH, I have used it when flying United by showing my PP card. I'm not a SC member, so I don't know if a SC card would work there.
Most UA lounges are part of PP (but not PP Select). PP rules require only some flight that day, not a departure and not a flight associated with the airline that operates the lounge.
