Not really much to see in Fort McMurray at that time of night except bar action. Do you have accommodation as it is extremely scarce in Fort McMurray most of the time? You could always contact the airport authority to see if they have baggage storage as one of the features in the new terminal.

Although the airport is very close to the city, I wouldn't doubt that cabs cost that much as everything is expensive there.
