Well, technically, the hotel can treat the two reservations as completely separate and then ask you to change rooms after one night. This is unusual and if it happens it's mainly because the two reservation were not for the exact same room type.
But in reality, almost all chances you'd be fine. They would just ask you both to sign check-in forms. You can inform the hotel in advance of this situation and ask them to put a note in the reservation to make sure the check-in process will go smoothly.
I made sure they were the same room so there shouldn't be any issues there. I did think of contacting the desk, however there isn't anything about our accounts that are the same. Different address, surname etc. Did wonder if they thought it was someone trying it on by linking the reservations.
Its not a major issue to pack after one night, more of an inconvenience more than anything
