When you need you boarding pass, you need it very handy. Searching five pockets and a briefcase sucks as the plane is boarding.

So, I have the habits above to keep me from losing these items.
Besides presenting at security, sometimes FA requests to see BP at boarding, occasionally I've had to whip it out again after finding someone in my seat.

If printing out at home I fold my BP in quarters with printed side out, put inside my passport then into a jacket pocket or outside pocket of my cross-body purse.
