This is assuming CFP validates credit card account numbers - their system handles all kinds of accounts, not just CC, so they may not incorporate that checksum validation. They do have to enter account numbers twice though, so in my experience they rarely mistype the account the same way twice.
The only way it could post to the wrong account is if the number the cashier punches in happens to match some other account that has the same last 4 numbers. Seems highly unlikely to me. Much more likely the payment would fail, and the $ would be automatically returned to your card. So don't throw those cards away until you know the process is complete.
