But I think this thread has veered pretty far off topic. For the OP, I would say get a larger sensor p&s and you will be more than happy as compared to your Moto G. Get a Sony RX100 series camera or even the new Panasonic LX100 or the Canon G7 X. You'll get results that are way better than your cellphone can produce. And you won't need to lug around a DSLR, especially if you're only planning to use it in auto mode anyway.
To the OP: If you don't see yourself needing either very wide, or very long lenses, this is good advice. But the OP never really did say what sort of subject matter that they intend to shoot. If you want very wide or very long lenses for the subject matter that needs them, you need an interchangeable lens camera. But if the range from moderate wide angle to moderate telephoto meets your needs, you can certainly get outstanding image quality with the quite portable self-contained cameras that glennaa11 mentioned.
