There were many restaurants near the hotel. But there were only few shops opened. Basically, there wasn’t any special to go around the hotel.
I live 5 minutes away from Hilton Shekou, and manage to eat quite well. There are a few really nice places in Sea World (lots of shops too, but I'm not a shopper), Wanghai Lu is solid, and the Peninsula is a great place to hang out by the water.
