This was the Marriott Renaissance in Schaumburg, IL. The box was delivered to the hotel after I already checked in. I knew exactly when the box would arrive, so that I could go out to receive it. So the box probably sat in "storage" for 5 minutes by the time I called the bell service. I wasn't allowed to retrieve the box myself. The box had to be brought up by the bell service. By the time it went up the elevator, that was $30

Also, when I called beforehand to ask front desk whether there would be extra fees to have a box shipped, they said that it wouldn't cost anything if the box was shipped during my stay. If it was shipped before, yes, there would be a storage fee. So that's why I arranged things as I did. When I was told it would cost $30 to *receive* a box 5 minutes after it was delivered by FedEx, I was pretty annoyed. When I explained I wasn't aware of this charge, the bellman shrugged and said something along the lines of "the front desk CSR aren't always aware of this policy."

The more I think about it, the more annoyed I am, actually.
