As China's national carrier, Air China was the first Chinese airline to operate into Australia. The first flight from China to Australia was on Sep 7, 1984, as Air China partnered with Qantas Airways for one flight per week between Beijing and Sydney. Today, Air China operates 3 new routes to China: direct service between Sydney and Beijing (Flight CA174/CA173) five times a week and daily service during the peak season; direct service between Sydney and Shanghai (CA176/CA175) three times a week; and between Melbourne and Beijing via Shanghai four times a week.
Air China also provides a large range of special services, allowing for more convenient and smoother connections. These services include transfer hotels, transfer lounges, limousine car services and many more. Air China is also continuously upgrading its technology, and on each of its aircrafts every passenger can experience their own individual entertainment system (AVOD). This technology is available on all of Air China's international services.
Currently, Air China has two domestic routes where in-flight broadband internet access is offered. Soon, this technology will also be offered on the Australian routes.
Air China is celebrating its 30th anniversary of service in Australia, and we invite you to come and join us. The celebration event will take place at Martin Place on Oct 30, 2014 from 12pm to 2pm.
4 years before Air China existed, huh?
