Award availability will come and go. A mid-week flight to Europe in early December isn't exactly peak season, so it's likely more seats could open up. I wouldn't stress.
The business/first 50k award to Europe will get you business on the long haul, but first on any 2-class domestic AA flights (i.e. SFO-DFW, etc.).
Keep in mind using BA for the transatlantic segment with an F or J award will also bring about $500 in taxes and fuel surcharges for SFO-MUC.
