I should note that I've since cancelled the Japan subscription and have purchased a Worldwide subscription instead as I will be calling N.America on a weekly basis to check-in with family. I signed up for the current one-month free offer as it worked out to be a much better value.

I'm still uncertain about Google Voice however. I have Talkatone on my iPhone and iPad but have never used it. I have not downloaded or purchased Google Voice as of yet.

I would like to know ehether it's suggested or necessary given my usage? I intend to forward my cell number to my Skype number before leaving and will be making all outgoing calls through Skype on WiFi. Can anyone tell me a bit more about GVoice and why it would be of benefit... or confirm that it's not needed?

And very last question: should I set up call forwarding from Skype to my cell phone number or vice versa? Is it better to forward incoming call directly through my iPhone to Skype, or to forward Skype call to my iPhone? Does it make a difference? Would I get charged fees if I forward incoming Skyoe calls from Japanese numbers ot my regular US cell phone number even with an unlimited Worldwide subscription? Would the cost be absorbed by Skype or would I get charged through AT&T for the forwarded calls?
