Forgive me if this seems obvious but it's new to me.
I will have unltd. MiFi access throughout our trip and would like to set up a Skype number to use in conjunction, both for local calls (primarily) and ocassionally to check-in with family.
For starters, should I be registering the number in Japan or the US?
Assumably, I'd think that all local calls within Japan would be free of charge since I'll be on WiFi connection, so is this maily for incoming phone calls? If so, would it make more sense to select a US number to make it easier for family to reach us without incurring long-distance rates?
I currently have a free North America subscription through Skype; should I set up a worldwide or Japan/Asia specific (if available) subscription or would this not be necessary again due to being on WiFi connection?
Thanks for your help and apologies again if this seems obvious!
I've been reading lots of blog entries and have just set up a U.S. Skype tel. number.
I will have unlimited WiFi at all times through a protable hotspot. I'm wondering if there's any good reason to pay for Google Voice service?
Can't I just as easily forward all incoming calls on my cell phone to the new Skype number and not bother with GVoice? I have no other phone numbers to consider apart from my primary cell phone. In this case, what are the advantages of using Google Voice with my Skype number over just forwarding calls through my iPhone?
