My daughters have Comcast. During the day when nobody is home in the area it is lightning fast. When people get home and start downloading things

it is slower than my ATT DSL line.
We got the DSL line 16 years ago when my son worked for an ISP and was able to arrange it for us. ATT said we were too far from the phone facility and it would never work. It worked just fine. Payed for 6 MBs but never got more than 5.
So the promotion deals are gone and phone and DSL become 85 dollars. No promotions? I would hate to go to Comcast. Suddenly they have a deal. UVerse internet and phone for 50 bucks a month. Twice as fast than what we have now. Deal.
In fairness they showed when they promised, alerted us the phone line would be down for a bit, got everything working in short order and left. Or did they?
Well half of the home entertainment system was left unplugged. The internet works only if you physically plug your computer into the Uverse modem. They didn't bother to plug the router into the modem. And the phone rings twice and goes to voice mail wherever that is.
It took a couple of hours to get everything squared away with the ATT service on the phone and chat. Then I had to explain to my wife that there really is a plug in the back of her laptop and how to plug it into the modem.
You would be amazed how many things require the internet. All of the streaming apps (NetFlix, Hulu etc) no matter what the device, TIVO needs it to download the schedules and so does the video PC which down loads pod casts for us.
So right now she is mostly without entertainment. I will have to be extra entertaining this weekend and take her to dinner a few times to get past this debacle.
