The computer system is notorious for having issues with things like this. An actual DL agent will see that you now are PM and thus qualify for a waiver. You're own post confirms that your statement is incorrect. Just like if you try and change/cancel a ticket online within 24hrs DL.com will try and charge you for it, even though it's free.
