No they won't. However, on domestic flights cheaper booking classes don't allow advanced seat selection. This has been the case for a while and has worked relatively well.
Is it only cheap fares? I have a domestic flight on a B fare that seat reservations won't stick for early January. Or is it just too early to do it yet? The two long haul international segments on the same ticket did take seat assignments.
