It doesn't need to be smaller -- its dimensions are perfectly legal :roll eyes:

Considering people around here as soooooo into comparisons, major US airlines and AC's sole competitor in Canada have removed their weight restrictions for carry-on items. It's called getting with the times.

The solution is simple:
  1. Eliminate (or, at the very least, greatly increase) the maximum carry-on weight
  2. Instruct cabin crew to *not* help passengers lift their bags into the overhead bins

If the luggage size is legal and the passenger can lift it into the bin, problem solved. And you won't be inconvenienced while others board.
