The real value behind front class service
Let's face it, we all love business class and first class, the difference in comfort vs Y or Y+ is second to none.
I find myself wondering, knowing that a J class ticket on SQ from say Paris round trip is at least 4,000 euros, one of the highlights of the experience is the catering.
But is it really that good quality? How much would a meal taken from book the cook be worth if eaten on the ground? Are the products used organic and of the finest quality? Or are we just blinded by the looks of what seems like a fancy restaurant dinner at 38,000 feet (The olive garden or cheesecake factory can serve fancy plates for less than 10 USD).
My point is not to devaluate what the experience is worth, I am just trying to get a grasp on how much airlines actually invest in the product? I'm sure a Y class dinner is probably worth 5 euros per pax at most, probably less, I wonder what it's like for J or F, knowing that in these 2 cases the booze served on board probably exceeds in value what we eat in these cabins.
