Since I'm willing to fly into any airport within 200 miles of my origin and destination and willing to + or - by 2 days either side, I'm not finding it practical to search Delta's award calendar over and over and over.
The best mechanism for searching award tickets is:
a. Human being/ you
b. Computer with internet access/ desktop, laptop, tablet/ phone
c. Logged into your skymiles account at www.delta.com with the award calendar open
d. Search by segment for the days you are looking for, and the arrival and destination airport/cities you are looking for.

e. Once you have put that together try and book the award reservation.
f. If you fail to do so, call Delta CS and work with the agent with precise dates and departure & arrival destination airport/ cities
g. Bingo! Success! or Failure!
h. Repeat all steps above.

i. Try an award booking service, if complicated itinerary and many passengers
Get ready to pay $100-$200 per ticket booked
