That does seem to be the case but I don't understand
why that is the case. When you originally apply for NEXUS through GOES you enter your passport info, all of your vital stats, and book an interview time, and all of
that information makes it to CBSA. I don't understand why updating one's passport info through GOES couldn't as well.
